Dunton Hot Springs
Located two hours away from the famous town of Telluride, Colorado lies Dunton Hot Springs. A former mining town established in 1885. Dunton is now home to a luxurious retreat with a number of log cabins and other lodging dotted along the picturesque West Dolores River. I was invited to stay at Dunton and tour the property by amazing photographers James x Shultze, who put a beautiful trip together and introduced me to the beauty of Colorado in the winter.
I was mesmerized by the magical of the medicinal springs. The water is rich in Manganese, Iron and Lithium. With a number of bathing options, I took the springs in the Bathhouse as well as under the fall of snow in an outside spring. This was without a doubt one of the most incredible experiences of my life.
I stayed in Cristys Tent, the newest room on property and the same set up as the tents at nearby sister property River Camp. The tap water in each cabin come from the top of a nearby mountain, and are filtered through caves of coal, before being filtered again and tapped into the cabins. The bedding in the room were without a doubt the most comfortable I have slept on in a very long time, if ever. From the incredible innovative, comfort food - on par with a Michelin star restaurant, to the friendly, welcoming and attentive service, this is luxury at its finest served in the form of an intimate, comfortable resort.
